Attorney General Martha Coakley indicated there was exactly one moment of her career that she regrets, blaming her loss for a January 2007 incident.

Despite running in the most liberal state in the nation, Democratic Attorney General Martha Coakley conceded defeat in the Governor’s race this morning, admitting she could not overcome her embarrassment from an incident nearly eight years ago.

The incident was chronicled by The Mep Report in this iconic video:

Coakley arrested and charged two men with inciting terror and panic in January 2007 after they had placed advertising for the upcoming Aqua Teen Hunger Force movie around Boston. The ads resembled lite-brites of the ATHF cartoon characters. In response, Coakley declared “It had a very sinister appearance. It had a battery behind it, and wires.”

Charlie Baker used a number of attack ads in his successful campaign to become the next Governor of Massachusetts. But his office declined to comment on whether the ads depicting Coakley making this statement were the most effective.

“I really wish I had never made those comments about the lite-brites,” Coakley stated today in a remarkably self-aware press conference. “At this point, I just wish everyone would forget 1-31-07.”
